Rachel’s a designer who loves good packaging, photography and the moving image.
She grew up in Hobart, and creative design has always been a part of her life. School was all about art and music, and her interest in drawing and photography has continued ever since.
Rachel studied a Bachelor of Arts (Japanese major) at UTAS, and later a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communications.
She worked as an assistant English teacher in Japan for several years, and continues to learn Japanese. She designs and makes clothes, and is a fan of online tutorials and teaching herself new skills.
In addition to teaching English, Rachel’s career has included a multi-faceted role of graphic design, film editing and clinical photography with the UTAS School of Medicine. She’s also undertaken a wide range of temporary placements, including work with the Department of Health and Human Services.
Not surprisingly, Rachel loves the art and precision of Japanese design. And she also makes a good jam!
